Blood Rites - low budget horror movie - shooting this Spring in Lincoln, NE
Posted February 27th, 2010 by redchairHeavily influenced by Giallo, a genre of Italian horror popularized in the late 60’s and 70’s by masters like Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci, Blood Rites is a macabre mystery of murder, drug use and the occult. A drug deal has gone horribly wrong. Nicky, a young woman on the wrong side of the law, finds herself trapped in a secluded warehouse with a sociopathic ex-soldier, a violently unstable drug user, a dying gunshot victim and a handful of religious zealots. Something unnatural is happening. A demon wants to be born and that can only happen with a sacrifice of blood.
This is the second feature produced by Unfiltered Entertainment, Inc. Our previous project, "Wake the Witch", is being picked up for video on demand distribution. Please visit our websites - www.unfiltered-ent.com and www.wakethewitchmovie.com - for more information.

Up in the Air - a Crewview and a Living Example of would-of, could-of, should-of
Posted December 18th, 2009 by DJRhettMC* Posted by Jamie Vesay on December 17, 2009 at 2:00pm filminne.ning.com
I worked on Up in the Air. I ended up with the most days on the project of any local crew. Jason Reitman is all the nice guy he appears in interviews. The Producers and out-of-town crew were all top shelf professionals and as kind. I am proud to have worked on this project.
My involvement in Locations started way back in October of 2008 when Jason came to town for a Director's scout. Honestly, it was a tad surreal since only a month earlier, I was watching him on my TV doing behind-the-scenes commentary from Juno. Over the next few months, there were other visits and more scouting - hoping that at least some of the movie would come here.
I got to see the movie last night. While a good movie, as it has been critically reviewed, my emotions were admittedly mixed. A few things:
1. There's even less of Omaha in the movie that was shot (they filmed two days - Omaha airport and Old Market).

Iowa
The next door neighbor's just got a new pool and everybody wants in. Wow. It looks like a good one. Before I write the next sentence I pause and ask myself how to sound optimistic. Help me. Please. While I want so so badly for our State to get it and yearn to show would-be Producers the multiple location options we have here, the pain at watching other states win is stinging. Dare I do it but here is the link to Iowa's incentives page http://www.traveliowa.com/film/incentives.html Quietly weeping.

Making Movies in Nebraska Update- Senator Mello's LB282
Posted January 16th, 2009 by DJRhettMCMichelle Schrage sent a message to the members of Make More Movies in Nebraska.
Hello wonderful supporters of Nebraska Filmmaking!
I wanted to let you know that Senator Heath Mello (Omaha's 5th Dist.) is taking the lead on introducing film tax incentive bill to the senate this legislative session. The bill is known as LB282.
Now is the time to rally around Senator Mello and show more support for this industry and demonstrate how we can develop more infrastructure and continue to grow the industry with job creation by moving
this bill forward. LB282 has not been assigned to a committee. Senators Mello and Nantkes (last year's champion of the bill) are on the Appropriations Committee but it is yet undetermined where this will be reviewed. As soon as the bill is assigned, it would be great to begin dialogue with those seated senators.
A strategy planning meeting will be held with Senator Mello in one week.
Random Idea: Low power Digital TV station
Posted January 5th, 2009 by DJRhettMCIdea: We could write a grant for a "Lincoln/Omaha/Kearney" local arts and entertainment education TV station!
In the vein of a TV/user generated version of PS Collective radio station in Benson (Omaha), except with a digital and/or HD transmitter for local arts/ film/ etc kinda like 'over the air public access"... But with CONTENT and/or LOCAL! Or is that PBS in the olden days? Am I crazy? Lots of people are okay without Cable or Satelite...
Whaddya think are the main obstacles (buying/maintaining a tower, permits, fundraising, mission?)
YouTube is free and HD but not local...

Working on the first of a handful of shorts
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by sbryanIt looks like the market, in terms of exposure, is ripe for comedy shorts with a hook, a twist, and a three-minute runtime.
I have a working script for one short and ideas for a few others. I'm using a DVX camera with a 35mm adapter and a couple of prime lenses.
I'm looking for two or three dependable people to help on the crew, a 3-point lighting kit, and some general advice.
That said, is there an upcoming NIFP meeting in April?
Thanks,
Sean Bryan

Jim Field's "BUGEATERS" in the news!
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by DJRhettMCBob's Take on Cinema: Film tackles birth of NU football
BY BOB FISCHBACH
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER
How's this for a movie pitch: George Clooney directs and stars in a retro screwball romantic comedy, a la director Howard Hawks' "His Girl Friday" or George Cukor's "The Philadelphia Story." Clooney competes with the younger John Krasinski ("The Office") for the affections of Renée Zellweger.
OK, I think we have the women hooked.
And a lot of the men will probably follow when I tell you the movie, "Leatherheads," is about the early days of pro football, set in 1925. It was written by two Sports Illustrated reporters, Duncan Brantley and Rick Reilly.
I'm looking forward to its opening Friday.
When I showed the "Leatherheads" publicity materials to Omaha filmmaker Jim Fields, his reaction was immediate:
"This is so much more sophisticated than the time period I'm dealing with."
He wasn't referring to the movie's attempt at witty repartee.
